All New Dark Rifts

Introduction

The Dark Rifts were revamped to be more accessible and to offer better rewards for completion
  • The amount of bosses have been reduced from 12 to 6 so there's not as many to complete
  • Bosses that remain are easier to access, with bosses difficult to travel to being removed
  • The rewards from defeeating Dark Rifts have been improved, making them a better incentive
  • Ferrid has been left as one of the Mediah bosses as guilds often kill it while waiting for raids.

With the new changes Dark Rifts will be much faster to complete with better rewards!

Boss Changes

Since there were several bosses removed and no longer able to be defeated for rewards, here's a list of which bosses were removed.

Most of the removals focused on bosses that were either far away or didn't offer much benefit to defeat, making sure to keep around bosses that provide Jetina boss materials.

Removed Dark Rift Boss Dark Rift Boss with Enhanced Loot
Steel Nux
Kavali
Ancient Puturum
Ruins Guard Tower
Saunil Siege Captain
Ronin
Ferrid
Red Nose
Dastard Bheg
Muskan
Dim Tree Spirit
Ahib Griffon

These changes were made to try and make Dark Rifts more accessible and worth completing for players who have already surpassed Jetina PEN boss gear.

Ancient Puturum could spawn in a few different places in the desert that made travelling out to fight it a bit inconvenient.

Reward Changes

To help make the Dark rifts more appealing, the drops have been reworked as well. The inclusion of Mythical Feathers

is a really nice addition.

But now the amount of reward boxes you'll receive has also increased, increasing the amount you'll be able to make per boss. This is because half of the bosses have been removed.

Halving the bosses and increasing reward boxes helps to give the same or better rewards while making them much faster to complete.

Also, the spawn duration of bosses appearing from Dark Rifts has been changed to a maximum of 7 days.

Boss Location & Rewards

Since the locations of the bosses have changed so drastically compared to having 12 bosses in the past, here's the locations of the bosses along with the rewards that you can expect from them.

Ferrid

Ferrid is best to start with over in Mediah, this makes for the most optimal routing as it's the only boss over in Mediah.

You'll then move through Heidel to Calpheon to the Old Moon Tree to finish up, so it's best to start at Ferrid.

While Ferrid doesn't offer any Jetina PEN boss materials, it does give a Box of the Howling Dead and Box of the Distorted Dead.

Dastard Bheg

Bheg is super close to Heidel and is useful if you're upgrading your Bheg's Gloves through Jetina's PEN armour system.

You can see from the rewards that you can grab the Jetina boss materials along with the usual rewards boxes, as mentioned in the reward updates, there's now two boxes.

Bheg gives you the Box of the Howling Dead and the Box of the Howling Dead for defeating them.

Red Nose

Red Nose is another one close to Heidel, making it pretty convinient to do right after Bheg, when you're up to Red Nose you're already half way done.

Red Nose has some of the lower tier rewards with the Jetina's PEN boss gear materials probably being less used than the others.

The boxes provided are also lower tier, giving a Box of the Howling Dead and a Box of the Desperate Dead

Muskan

Head south of Heidel, over to the town of Glish, Muskan is just nearby. After this we'll head towards Calpheon.

Muskan is another one with lower reward value, mostly because the boots aren't as popular as Urugon boots.

Just like with Red Nose, the boxes provided are also lower tier, giving a Box of the Howling Dead and a Box of the Desperate Dead

Dim Tree Spirit

Time to make your way over to Calpheon, the Dim Tree Spirit is just South East of the city, with the map icons they're really easy to path to.

The rewards for Dim Tree Spirit are among the best, if you're using a Dim Tree Spirit's Armor for the Jetina PEN boss gear materials.

It also gives a Box of the Howling Dead and Box of the Distorted Dead along with the PEN boss gear materials too, so still useful.

Ahib Griffon
