Crafting The Karlstein Outfit

Introduction

The Karlstein Outfit is a Pearl Shop Outfit that can be crafted in game for free!
  • Most gathering materials for the outfit are found while grinding most spots out in the world
  • The crafting is done through housing workshops done in cities using contribution points
  • The Karlstein Outfit is a Pearl Shop Outfit, as such its a great way to get Cron Stones
  • Since it's classed as a premium set, the Karlstein Weapons can also be crafted

There is an item that is required from daily quests but they're easy and quick to complete.

Starting the Questline

To be able to start the questline for the Karlstein Outfit, you'll need to obtain a Intricately Patterned Mystical Shard which can drop from around the world when grinding.

There's no real place that is generally considered the best location for grinding them, as they can be obtained from any spot in any region.

Once you've obtained the Intricately Patterned Mystical Shard you'll need to head over to NPC Rubin in Calpheon.

Rubin will have a new quest for you called "A hero in Karlstein I" which will then auto navigate you to NPC Ahr the Seed Vendor.

Progress through the rest of the questline, its quick and simple as with the majority of Black Desert's questing, if you ever get lost on what to do, you can find the questline in the quest window.

The name of the questline is "[Outift] Karlstein, Following the Path of Vetor" in the Suggested tab:

Black Desert Karlstein quests

It's a really simple questline and although there are 34 listed, a lot of them are just R spam to complete, theres only 2 instances of combat and it's really low level.

Once you've finished up the questline you'll be able to get a new daily quest from NPC Clara Siciliano in Calpheon.

Black Desert Karlstein Outfit Daily Quest

This daily will provide you with the Design: Karlstein that are needed for crafting the outfit along with the other materials.

For the daily you just have to head over to Marni's Lab, defeat a few monsters and head back to Clara, it's usually only a few packs of mobs and you're done.

You can also leave an Alt at Clara to complete the daily with instead of using your main.

Crafting the Outfit

The crafting is done through workers and city clothing workshops called an Old Moon Costume Mill. You can access these by clicking on the green icon of a city.

Once you've clicked on the city icon you'll be given a lay out of the town that shows housing available for use within the city.

To find which houses can be used for Old Moon Costume Mills you can use the search function in the top right corner of the window.

Heidel is a pretty good option, there's three choices that all let you craft the Karlstein Outfit, just choose the one you like and you'll be able to create a workshop.

Once you've completed the workshop, you can hover over the items to see what is needed to craft them, as you can see you don't really need too many Design: Karlstein so the daily is pretty painless.

It will be the Intricately Patterned Mystical Shard that becomes the bottleneck if you want to craft more than one set, unless you have a bunch stored away already.

The rest of the materials can generally be found readily available on the Central Marketplace, free of hassle.

The outfit materials are also generally pretty cheap, for the example used the outfit should be 50 mil or under, this is especially good if you're melting the outfits for Cron Stones

Hiring Workers

If you have the materials then you're ready to craft the outfit, the only other thing you will need is a worker to actually craft it in the workshop.

Since we've been using Heidel as an example, you can look for the Work Supervisor NPC Joel right by the Storage keeper.

Black Desert How to hire workers

By using the Contract Workers button, you'll be able to cycle through randomly generated workers, at the cost of your Energy.

I won't go in to too much detail about workers here, but generally for the Karlstein outfit crafting, Goblins are a pretty safe bet with them being the fastest.

As a default each town or city will let you have 1 worker but you'll need lodging for more workers.

To hire more lodging, find a house, in this example the house Heidel 8-1, Room 4 is being used, so if you're not sure where to look you can use that house.

Black Desert How to hire more workers

You can check on your Worker list in the top left corner of your screen by clicking on the pickaxe icon, this will let you see the current condition of your workers and their stats.

Basically, you'll need to make sure they're fed in order to keep them working, this is most commonly done through Beer

You can also just right click on the Beer to feed them, or use the recover all and auto-recover feature that's available too.

Black Desert Worker Auto-Recovery

That's the basics of workers and all that's really needed for the purposes of crafting the outfit, though some people do recommend to try and get workers with certain skills.

Skills like Thrifty can be good as you can hope to have the Intricately Patterned Mystical Shard returned to you as they'll be the main bottleneck.

Black Desert Thrifty Skill

But as this is already a low chance, and has to roll through all of the ingredients (it's RNG which material they return) it's really not worth stressing over if you just want to make the outfit and be done.

I'd only really recommend it if you have a huge back log of Intricately Patterned Mystical Shards to provide a decent attempt at returning anything at all through multiple outfit craftings.

Hiring Diochre as a Worker

Since we used Heidel as an example, you can also hire a special worker by meeting them out in the world, they're not too far from Heidel.

Black Desert Diochre location

Once there you'll see a giant working in the field, you'll need to raise his Amity up to 500 in order to be able to hire him as a worker.

Amity is raised through the conversation mini-game, or if you'd like you can just spam F5 and repeatedly greet the NPC at the cost of Energy.

Black Desert Hiring Diochre

This tends to give 3 Amity score per greeting and you can use energy potions to help out, or use the energy of your alts if needed.

The special thing about Diochre is that he starts with the worker skill Unexpected Luck A which gives a low chance to return 100% of 1 crafting material.

Again, only really useful if you're going to be crafting a whole bunch of the outfits, but something to keep in mind.

Cron Stones

Because the Karlstein Outfit is a pearl shop outfit, it can be melted down for Cron Stones at Blacksmiths just like any other pearl shop outfit can.

This allows you to basically convert Intricately Patterned Mystical Shard into Cron Stones, so even if you don't want the outfit, it's a really good use of the materials.

Just head to a blacksmith and select Extraction Extract Outfit to be able to convert the Karlstein Outfit into Crons.
