Jetina's Guaranteed PEN Boss Gear

Introduction

Jetina's Guarenteed PEN Equipment is a cost effective way to upgrade boss weapons and armour from TET to PEN without RNG.
  • Upgrade materials dropped at grind spots with low gear requirements.
  • Provides guaranteed, consistant progression without having to rely on enhancing.
  • Fantastic for players who have recently finished enhancing season server gear.
  • Shai “Sol” weapons are excluded from the Jetina's Guarenteed PEN system.
  • The PEN gear can't be added to the marketplace but can be converted into Fallen God Gear.
  • Characters with negative karma cannot equip TET boss gear obtained from Jetina.
Requirements For Jetina's Guaranteed Boss Gear:

You must have a level 60 or higher character with TET boss gear or PEN tuvala gear. Complete the quest “A Cry for Help” from the Suggested quests offered via the Black Spirit as well as “Old Moon Guild's Trade Offer”

Jetina can be found in any main city, here's where you can find her:

Jetina Location

In total, by using this system you are able to upgrade 3 weapons and 4 armors to PEN.

This means you can only select one sub-weapon to enhance and one set of armor.

The cost of each guaranteed PEN will increase each time, though generally they remain cheaper than enhancing or buying the gear yourself. Weapons and armors have different pricing, which will be covered in detail later.

Below is generally the most popular selection for guaranteed PEN for both weapons and armor without any accessories or journal completions.

DR Build

Though this is generally the widely accepted set, you could also opt for a Red Nose Armor instead of a Dim Tree armor, as Red Nose Armor has a cheaper caphras cost to convert into Fallen God Armor.

This could save you a few billion in silver however you would be without the +200 HP benefit of a Dim Tree armor for a rather long time until reaching Fallen God Armor.

Fallen God Armor requires either a Dim Tree Spirit's Armor or a Red Nose's Armor enhanced to PEN caphras level 10.

If you're interested, you can calculate the price differences using our Caphras Calculator!

There is also Evasion gear options like Leebur's Gloves or Muskan's shoes and the sub weapon can be switched to a Nouver if you already have a Kutum.

If you would like to explore different gear options, feel free to try our Gear Planner!

How to Start Making Jetina's Guaranteed PEN Boss Gear

As mentioned you will first need TET boss gear or PEN Tuvala gear to begin this process. It's recommened to do this with Tuvala equipment after completing a season server. This is because the season gear can be converted to which ever boss gear you'd like.

Exchanging TET boss gear will only return an upgradable TET boss gear piece of the same kind, which can limit flexibility.

If you have completed all requirements, the quest [PEN (V) Boss Gear]: The Old Moon Guild's Best Deal quest will be available from your Black Spirit, in the "Suggested" menu.

Only Tuvala gear that has been coverted for use by normal characters can be used, season characters cannot complete the quest. Crystals must be removed from any gear that you wish to exchange.

After doing a small questline with Jetina, she will allow you to exchange your current TET boss gear or converted PEN tuvala gear for TET boss gear which can be upgraded.

Jetina Pen Boss Gear Quest

If you accidently exchange converted Tuvala gear into the wrong boss piece, you can talk to Jetina to exchange it to the correct piece. You can only do this once per armor or weapon slot. You cannot exchange items you have already began upgrading.

Jetina Wrong Boss Gear Exchange

Jetina will then provide you with a simple quest, it will provide you with the location to speak to an NPC in Tarif, simply talk to  NPC Yisar Pjetyo using the "Main Quest" function when arriving in Tarif.

You must have opened the TET boss box given to you by Jetina to receive this exchange quest.

Guaranteed PEN Gear Stats

Before you can exchange your new gear to PEN, there are 5 upgrade stages that you must first obtain.

This might sound like a drawback at first but weapons and armor that are leveled up in this manner gain additional stats. This means consistent, gradual progression all the way up to achieving your PEN gear.

Again, all of the [REFORMED] TET boss gear pieces are available to view in our Gear Planner!

Below is the Reformed weapon at level 0, level 3 and level 5. You can see the stats get closer to that of a PEN.

Dandelion Comparison

This shows that as you are able to increase your gear, you're able to slowly accumulate more stats, even before reaching a PEN. This can help with things like hitting AP & DP brackets.

In short, AP & DP brackets are certain gear score windows that provide you with additional stats.

If you're curious about these brackets or want to view the bonuses provided you can view them here!

Here is a direct comparison of a TET level 5 piece of guarenteed PEN Boss gear vs a PEN piece of gear.

Reformed vs PEN Dandelion

As you can see, a PEN item still has higher stats. Though once an item reaches level 5 it can be exchanged to PEN at Jetina. So in most cases there's no need to ever use a Reformed piece instead of a PEN.

Reformed Kutum vs PEN Kutum

One of the cases where it may be better to keep around the reformed gear is when using a Kutum. A level 4 reformed Kutum offhand will have the almost identical stats as a PEN kutum.

Reformed Kutum vs PEN Kutum

While there are a few minor differences, the main stats are the same, meaning you would hit the same brackets with a level 4 kutum.

As level 5 is the most expensive in terms of upgrading, it also means that making a level 4 Kutum instead of a PEN is much cheaper. We'll talk more about upgrading costs later.

This is something to consider when making your build, though eventually you will want to exchange for a PEN kutum to enable further upgrades through caphras enhancement.

Upgrading Your Gear to Guaranteed PEN

Resplendant Reform Stone - Resplendent Reform Stones - These are the crafted item used to upgrade TET Jetina gear.

Each weapon and armor must be upgraded 5 times before it can be converted to a PEN piece of equipment at Jetina via quest.

Each upgrade requires a different level of reform stone. Each reform stone requires different quantities of materials. Put simply, the price increases with each level of stone.

Now only Concentrated Magical Black Stone (Weapon) will be used when creating the reform stones.

Here is a table of required materials.

Obtaining the Materials

Most of the materials used for Jetina's guaranteed PEN can be grinded for in low level areas, with spots in Valencia being the clear choice.

This is fantastic for new players as it means that they can stockpile materials while grinding fantastic beginner friendly zone like Desert Fogans and use gathered silver on the marketplace to speed things up.

To check which spots you'd like to grind, and what materials they drop, you can check out our Map!

Just click on the grind spot learn more about what the spot drops.

If you'd like to know what average drops per hour to expect for a grind spot, head over to our Grind Tracker!

The items and how to get them:

Concentrated Black Stone Concentrated Magical Black Stones

If you're new you may want to use Concentrated Magical Black Stone (Weapon) or Concentrated Magical Black Stone (Armor) as your silver sink from grinding Valencia spots. These are usually available on the marketplace and buying them outright wont prevent you from obtaining the other materials at the same time.

You can also buy Sharp Black Crystal Shard or Hard Black Crystal Shard from the marketplace. They can be used in order to craft the necessary Concentrated Magical Black Stones.

While grinding Valencia you may also get some Sharp Black Crystal Shard or Hard Black Crystal Shard drops from a Afuaru, an uncommon rare mob spawn.

If you don't mind putting aside grinding, the Gathering life skill can also be a great way to obtain Sharp Black Crystal Shard or Hard Black Crystal Shard drops as well.

Memory Fragment Memory Fragment

While grinding in Valencia, you will obtain Scroll Written in Ancient Language. After collecting five scrolls you can arrange them into a [+] shape to create a Pila Fe Scroll

These Pila Fe Scrolls can be used to summon a set of bosses that will drop Memory fragments and award drop bundles that are obtained from your Black Spirit after defeating the bosses.

You can also use Ancient Relic Crystal Shard in the same manner as Pila Fe Scrolls also. A good way to obtain them is by life skill Fishing, which can be done when you don't feel like grinding

Memory Fragments are also obtainable from the Marketplace, as are Scroll Written in Ancient Language.

Magical Shard Magical Shard

While grinding in Valencia (or other spots such as Elvia locations), you will obtain plenty of Sealed Black Magic Crystal drops.

These drops can be used to create Magical Shards by heating them in the (L) Processing window.

Heating for Magical Shards

You shouldn't need to buy them from the Marketplace, though if you want to speed up the process and have the silver to sink, they can be obtained from the market.

Boss Crystals Boss Crystal

Unlike most of the required materials, Boss Crystals are time gated.

World bosses have the chance to drop Concentrated Boss Crystals on defeating them but the most efficient way to obtain them is through weeklies.

Jetina offers a weekly quest that resets every Thursday at midnight in order to exchange Boss Latent Aura into Boss Crystals.

Simply talk to her and select the relevant "Main Quest" corresponding to the Boss gear piece you're currently working on.

Concentrated Boss Crystal Weekly Quest

Latent aura - A Latent Aura is awarded for defeating bosses (Field Bosses, World Bosses, Scroll bosses or Dark Rift Bosses).

Some of the Latent Aura are only obtainable from Dark Rifts, as are some of the Concentrated Boss Crystal drops.

Dark Rift Example

Each week, you can exchange 2 Latent Aura to Jetina for 155 Concentrated Boss Crystals. For one gear piece, you will need 360 Concentrated Boss Crystals in total.

Not all Latent Aura is dropped at the same rate, here's a list on what to expect from drops!

  • Darkened Boss Summon Scrolls give 1+ Latent Aura
  • Dark Rift Bosses give 1-2 Latent Aura
  • Field Bosses give 1-2 Latent Aura (Dim Tree Spirit, Red Nose, Dastard Bheg)
  • World Bosses give 1-2 Latent Aura (Kzarka, Nouver,  Kutum,  Karanda, Offin Tett)
  • Strengthened World Bosses give 3-5 Latent Aura (Bloodstorm Nouver for example)

Latent Boss Aura and Concentrated Boss crystals have been simplified into Latent Boss Aura and Concentrated Boss Crystal.

Concentrated Boss Crystal

This means you don't have to worry about specific bosses and can gain the generic Boss Aura or Boss Crystals from more than one source.

Concentrated Boss Aura Boss Aura

Thankfully, its rather simple to obtain Boss Aura, however, it is a little expensive to do so. This will be another silver sink in creating Guaranteed PEN gear.

To obtain Boss Aura, use Simple Alchemy in the Processing window (L), you will need 30 Boss Aura, so you may want to use a TRI for this.

Converting the boss gear piece into Boss Aura will consume the piece of equipment.

If you accidentally obtain an incorrect aura you can exchange Concentrated boss aura to Jetina for another kind at a 2 to 1 ratio.

Boss Aura can't be obtained from Seasonal gear, or converted Seasonal Gear that looks like the following:

Boss Auras have now been combined and simplified to be just Contained Boss Aura as part of the item simplification process.

Oquilla Crystal Oquilla Crystal

The next item, Oquilla Sky Crystal and Oquilla Earth Crystal are also a silver sink. This, item uniquely increases in cost. The way its gained is through quest exchange from Jetina.

Jetina Quest Option

Oquilla Piece of Old Moon- Oquilla Piece of the Old Moon - Jetina will ask for this specific item. Each time you complete the quest, Jetina will ask for more crystals each time you complete the quests.

Weapons and Armor have separate questlines, meaning their costs do not stack.
