Introduction
The Season Servers are higher rate servers with plenty of boosted progression and rewards!
-
Combat Exp +1000% , Skill Exp +50% and Life skill Exp 30% (excluding trading.)
-
Easy to enhance PEN Tuvala gear, equal to TET boss gear or TRI gold accessories.
-
Season pass and level up rewards good for both new and veteran players but not a neccesity.
-
Veteran players gain access to a "Simplified" questline that doesn't require main story questing.
-
PEN Tuvala gear can also be exchanged with NPC Jetina for a set of TET Boss gear of your choice
If you're a Veteran player or looking for a particular topic, use the page navigation on the right!
Season Server Restrictions
Season servers have plenty of bonuses but also have a few restrictions. Now, after the changes to the way seasons work, Tuvala is the only gear you need to worry about, Naru gear has been removed.
There is an icon on items to show which equipment can be used by a Season character.

Mainline questline awarded gear and Asula accessories can be equipped as soon as you've made your character.
Here are some of the other restrictions Seasonal servers have:
- Seasonal characters need Season Character Tickets in order to be created
- Life skill gear that gives Life Skill Mastery cannot be equipped
- A Seasonal character cannot be tagged or use the tag system
- To enhance PEN Tuvala gear up to DEC, you'll need to graduate from the Season servers.
You can then complete the Magnus questline up to where you get the rewards (which is basically instant now) for a a PEN piece of gear.
You can then make your PEN Tuvala boots into DEC Tuvala boots and exchange them for Fallen God boots, giving you an incredible start on the game when combined with Black Star weapons. We'll talk about Tuvala more later.

There's also new season quests that help you gain Capotia accessories faster, these can really help if you're stuck with Tuvala accessories after the season is over so make sure you pick them up!
Season Server Benefits
As mentioned in the introduction, Season servers offer increased rates for Exp. The season server has +1000% Combat Exp, +50% Skill Exp to help you level up faster.
For life skillers, Season servers provide 30% Life skill Exp excluding trading. Life skills also give +100% basic resources.
Gathering can also provide double the resources received.
| Seasonal Server Benefits and Rewards: | |
|
Level up Rewards |
At certain levelling milestones you will receive additional rewards like extra enhancing materials from the Season Pass. |
|
Season Pass |
The season pass provides a bunch of rewards and alot of them will help with Season gearing, there's also a cash shop version that gives extra rewards. |
|
|
A great Life Skilling alchemy stone for new players with handy stats that's perfect for new players learning Life Skills for the first time. |
|
|
Can be exchanged for another set of amazing rewards, obtained from completing the Season pass, completing the cash shop pass rewards more of them. |
|
Graduation Rewards |
When graduating the Season server, you are able to pick from more rewards, including fantastic accessories |
These topics will be covered in more detail through the rest of the guide, so if these explainations seem brief, don't worry, there'll be more information later on each topic.
Starting a Season Character
Seasons are now Permanent, letting you choose to create a Season character at any time as long as you have a Season Character Ticket.
When creating a character you'll be given the option to Create a Season Character or to Create a Normal Character:

Initially everyone is given 2 Season Character Tickets with the launch of Permanent Seasons and more will be given out at random intervals. You can have a max of 5 Season Character Tickets.

You'll also be able to see how many of your Season Character Tickets are in use by looking the green check mark. After you've made your selection you'll be taken to the Class Selection screen.
You'll only lose a voucher once you graduate, so you can still delete a character to change class.
When customizing the appearance of your character, make sure Season character is ticked in bottom right corner. If you need a preset for your character, why not check out our Beauty Album guide below:

Once you've completed the intro tutorial sequence you'll be asked which starting zone you'd like to choose, generally its better to choose Ancient Stone Chamber.
You can always do the Mountain of Eternal Winter questline at another time.

New Player Season Guide
To start off with, its best to stick with the Main questline, at very least until you reach the first major city you'll come to, Velia.

Alot of things within Black Desert may require certain main line quests to have been completed, so completing it will always be useful.
When you get to Velia, you can grab a Traveler's horse from the stable keeper, but you'll also be able to open your free dream horse in the Rewards (Y) Tab. Here's guides on those:
The short guides above will give you a simplified breakdown on what each horse does and how to obtain them!
Main Questline Rewards
In general the main questline will provide you with rewards as well as skill points, energy and contribution points. It's highly recommended to do them because it will make your life a lot easier in the long run.

These can be used for a number of things through out the game like talking to NPCs but will mostly be for Life Skills.
You'll obtain Naru gear and Beginner Black Stones used to enhance it. Quests also unlock other content or can provide permanent character bonuses like the Land of The Morning Light questline.
Content past this point is focused more on Seasonal Servers only, if you need a new player guide, check out this one:
Leveling through Combat
While it's recommended to follow the main questline, Black Desert is a sandbox game, if you want to go do combat and level up, then do it.
We've got a guide on how to progress through the game while bypassing the quests (though we do recommend you go back to them when you feel like it for the basically mandatory rewards of extra stats.)
Click the image to be taken to the guide in a new window!
Season Pass Introduction
If you're not familar with the Season Pass, it will be a glowing icon in the upper left corner, near your mini map.

The Season Pass provides you with a whole bunch of objectives, that work to teach you aspects of the game while providing you with valueable Season rewards.

There's also the Black Spirit Pass which is a cash shop version of the Season Pass that provides extra rewards for completing the pass.
With the addition of Permanent Seasons, a lot of rewards might feel missing however they've been moved to the Season pass for better quality of life.

Now when upgrading your Tuvala equipment, you'll no longer have to visit Fughar for several quests, instead, the Advice of Valks will be received through the Season Pass.
Some other things that were integrated in this way are the following:
- New/Returning Adventurer Challenges
- Season Character Leveling Challenges (Lv. 50-60)
- Region quests (skill point rewards, etc.)
- Season graduation quests
- Fughar's Fishing Rod quest
Season Servers Introduction to Life Skills
There are also life skilling options that you can do within Black Desert but I would recommend waiting until getting further into your Season Pass.
At the end of the Season pass, there will be a challenge called "The Adventurer That Does It All" as seen below:

The quest chain "[Season] [Life 101] The Adventurer That Does It All" will teach you all about the different life skills. On season servers you'll also gain a passive +30% Life Skill Exp and 100% extra gathering resource materials.
I'd recommend using that quest chain as a small tutorial and a good starting point to get into life skills. It will also reward you with an item that's fantastic for life skillers listed in the section below.
Treant's Tear & Alchemy Stones
Treant's Tear is an Alchemy Stone that you'll be given from the quest chain, it can be equipped and activated with (U), hover over the tooltip to see what it gives!
This can be repaired by using Mystical Spirit Powder which can be obtained from using grinding down spirit stone Alchemy stones which you can buy on the Central Marketplace:

Use Grinding in the Processing window (L) on these spirit stones to create Mystical Spirit Powder.
To repair an Alchemy Stone, open your inventory (I) and click on the "Stone" button highlighted below:

A new window will appear, you can then place your Alchemy stone and your Mystical Spirit Powder inside the window:

Spirit stones can also be used as a great Alchemy stone for beginners, they're rather cheap and can't be repaired.
| Alchemy Spirit Stones | |
|
|
A protective Spirit Stone that can give you a little more defensive stats, generally not that popular.
|
|
|
An offensive Spirit Stone usually for combat, not a bad pick to start out. |
|
|
Handy for Alchemy, Cooking, Processing, Gathering and Fishing life skills. |
|
|
Great for providing +50% Combat Exp and +30% Skill Exp as well as some offensive bonuses, these can't be repaired and will break eventually. |
This Combat Exp buff stacks with the Season Server +1000% Combat Exp and other sources of exp like Combat Exp scrolls. You can even asign it to automatically refresh the buff in your inventory (I) equipment section.
Veteran Player Guide
Before starting a Season character, you can prepare gear to leave in your Velia storage to make your leveling a smoother process.
This gear still works, but you can now instantly enhance a set of Tuvala gear by using black stones instead!
Here's some of the highest you can start out with (not including extra AP & DP from Journals):

If you don't need a breakdown and want to check out the build on our Gear Planner, click here!
As mentioned, since you can now just use regular black stones and concentrated black stones to enhance Tuvala gear and you can purchase Tuvala accessories at blacksmiths, there's really no need to go out of your way for quest gear.
You'll also get a lot of black stones and Concentrated black stones from the Simplified main questline now.
Simplified Main Questline
For Veteran players, the best route to go down is the Simplified questline if you want to complete the Season server quickly.
Simply follow the main quest up until "[Balenos] Dark Clouds Over Velia" which will give you the option to select the Simplified questline.

If you've not done the Simplified questline before, you're basically just rewarded for leveling up.
You'll be given enhancement materials and Tuvala pieces throughout the leveling process now instead of time filled stones. Time filled stones can still be exchanged for rewards and are now named Time-Filled Fragments.
Tuvala Gear
While leveling on the Season server you will be awarded with Tuvala gear which has incredibly high enhancement rates. Here are the new enhancement rates for Tuvala gear enhancement.
| Tuvala Gear Enhancement Materials & Success Rates |

| TRI (III) | 100% | - | |
| TET (IV) | 7% | 4 | |
| PEN (V) | 5% | 4 | |
Enhancements from PRI (I) to TRI (III) are guaranteed, but Max Durability decreases by 20 each time but this makes it pretty simple to get a full set of TRI gear even as a new player.
If you're enhancing and happen to reach a high failstack, make sure you don't use it on Tuvala, anything over 70 for PEN and you're already pushing it, you'll be awarded Advice of Valks from Fughar at certain levels so just use those.
Above is our guide on Failstacking and a super handy quality of life addition called Naderr's band which lets you store failstacks for later use, check it out if you're new to failstacking!
Time Filled Black Stone changes
Time-filled Black stones have been changed to Time-Filled Fragments, they can now be exchanged for failstacks and loot scrolls. They can also still be used to repair Tuvala max durability.

Enhancing Tuvala to DEC
We've got a guide that you can use if you want to enhance your Tuvala up to DEC, it's important to note that you'll have to graduate in order to be able to enhance your Tuvala past PEN.
Or you'll need to have a character that has a Graduation cap in their inventory, more details here:
Season Pass Rewards
The Season Pass has received a lot of simplification, basically just due to how the season gearing has changed. If you've not completed the Season Pass before, you can find the UI for it up in the top right near your mini map.

Notable Season Pass Rewards
There's alot of items on the Season Pass, here are some of the most notable ones and what they do!
[Season] Seal of Journey- The Permanent Season now offers a new type of Seal. Players who purchase the Black Spirit Pass will gain an extra 80 of them.
Without the pass players will get 120 in total, with the BlackSpirit Pass you'll have 200 to exchange.
These can also be turned in after you graduate from the Season servers if needed.
| More Useful Season Pass Rewards | |
|
Frozen Tides Black Stone |
This will allow you to guarantee an enhancement from TET to PEN on Tuvala gear, usually used on your weapon of choice. |
|
Boiling Tides Black Stone |
This guarantees a TET to PEN enhancement on Tuvala accessories best used on a Tuvala Necklace for the highest AP reward. |
|
|
Contains some useful items along with Cron Stones x500. |
The Black spirit pass gives an extra 1800 of these which can provide quite the jump start in gearing. But, these are not a finite resource. There are plenty of ways to obtain these on Season severs.
You'll have no problem upgrading your gear even if it takes a little longer, so don't feel like you need to buy them.
Once your gear has been maxed to PEN, you can either sell these or exchange them to NPC Fughar for other rewards.
Cron Stone - These are used to protect your enhancements from downgrading, the Black Spirit Pass provides an extra amount of them as well.
I'd highly recommend that you don't use Cron Stones on your Tuvala gear, even if it may seem tempting.
Season Seal Exchange
Season Seal of Journey can be exchanged for a good few items now and have recently been changed. You can exchange these seals in the currency exchange UI which is one of the icons just left of your mini map.
Here's a look at some of the options available:

There are some great options here, especially the +200 Advice of Valks, if you're interested in life skills you can also grab the Choose Your Floramos Accessory box which is a great start for life skill gear.
Season Quests & Content
There are a few things unique to the Season server to help players with gearing up such as quests, grind spot specific rewards, events or boss summon items.
There is also Season content that provides more accessible versions of existing content to be viable for Season characters.
Weekly Quests
One of the best ways to get materials for upgrading your Tuvala Gear is to complete a weekly quest that rewards various upgrade materials.
You can find the quests by opening the Quest Window (O) and heading to the 'Recurring' tab. There are a good amount of quests to choose from, all suitable for lower levels of gear score.

Note that once you have accepted the quest, it does not have to be completed by a season character or on a Season server.
If you are a veteran player, feel free to switch to your main to complete these, though obviously you wouldn't receive the Exp on your Seasonal character.
Rift's Echo Boss Summons
As mentioned, the Season server has a unique boss summon that rewards Season related gear and materials called Rift's Echo
Rift's Echo - Rewarded from weekly grind quests or from collecting and combining Rift's Fragments. They can only be completed on a Season Server
Rift's Fragment - Turn off "Auto Arrange" in your inventory (I) and arrange 5 of these into a '+' shape, you will be able to combine them into a Rift's Echo.
You are able to obtain Rift's Fragments from grinding or the gathering life skill.

For a Rift's Echo its recommended to find a party of 5 players, this is a boss summon scroll that usually summons 3 bosses.
Occassionaly, players may get lucky enough to get a rare boss spawn for additional rewards.
Right clicking on a Rift's Echo will take you to the necessary summon location if you are on a Season channel.
Red Battlefield
The Red Battlefield is one of the examples of content that is adjusted to be more suitable for Season Characters.
You can see which games are for Season characters only by looking for the Season server icon like below

The Red Battlefield is an instanced based, battleground PvP system that consists of two teams. Points are awarded for scoring kills and lost for being killed.
At the end of the match the team with the most points wins. There are three different maps to choose from.
You must be at least level 50 to enter the Red Battlefield but level 61 is recommended.
To enter the Red Battlefield, open your menu (Esc) then search for Red Battlefield.

Season Special Gift Exchange
You can also accept the "Season Special Gift" quest from NPC Fughar. Once you've completed this quest you can choose from the following rewards:
| Season | Season Special Gifts | ||
| 2020 Spring Season |
or ![]() PEN (V) Capotia Earring or PEN (V) Capotia Ring (Select one)
|
||
| 2020 Season |

|

If this is your first time choosing a reward the PEN (V) Capotia Necklace is the best choice as it provides the most AP.
Generally the PEN (V) Capotia Ring is picked instead of the earring, again for AP purposes. If you're a new player the accessories will always be the better choice.
Perilla's Star is a decent alchemy stone with a +1 DP increase as well, but not as valueable as the accessories in terms of gear progression.
After Season Graduatation
Once you graduate on to the normal servers you will be able to begin the Progression Pass. you'll be able to find it in the top right corner of your screen.
This is the icon to look for! The progression pass has a whole bunch of objectives and rewards.
The tasks will help you to learn the systems within Black Desert and its highly recommended that you complete it even if just for the rewards alone.

The progression of the pass is Family based, meaning you can work towards its completion on any non-Season character.
Fuhgar Graduation Quests
We've already mentioned that you can make your Tuvala gear go from PEN all the way to DEC now, these are part of Fuhgar's graduation quests.
But there's also marni stones that provide Caphras Stones, you can grab a total of 3000 Caphras Stones from completing 6 Marni stones by starting the quest below:
| PvE Leveling Aid Quests | ||
| Quest Name and NPC | Objective | Rewards |
| [Leveling Aid] A New Ascent | Talk to Fughar |

There's also one to help jump start your infinite potion grind by providing you with 100 Atanis' Elements.

| Quest Name and NPC | Objective | Rewards |
| [Leveling Aid] Operation Monster Subjugation I-IV |

Abyss One: The Magnus
The Magnus is a quest chain of challenges and puzzles that awards fast travel across the world of Black Desert. Now you don't really need to do all that much to unlock the quality of life features.
It also awards a new skill, shared storage access between major cities and most importantly for progresson, a PEN boss armor piece of your choice.
See our full guide for The Magnus right here:
Adventure Log Journals
Adventure log book journals can give rewards for your family of character, usually in the form of extra AP and DP.

Check out our guides on these journals for step by step guides here to help you progress your gear score!
Permanent Season TLDR
If you're just here for the changes, here's it breifly summarized, the changes are all mentioned in the guide above for more info.
With Seasons now being Permanent you'll be given Season tickets to create Season Characters.

A lot of rewards were also reworked and added to the Season Pass, like upgrading Tuvala gear for Advice of Valks and things like level up rewards.
The Season pass can be completed once per Season character ticket, meaning with the two we have you can run through it twice currently.
Fughar's Timepiece has been removed, it has been replaced by Patrigio's Pocket Watch that acts the same.
You can now graduate at any time as long as the usual requirements are met.
[Season] Seal of Journey will be the Permanent Season seals, you'll get 120 from the Season pass and an extra 80 if you buy the cash shop version.

The one time rewards are once per account and do not reset unlike the Season pass, meaning even if you use another Season Character Ticket, you can't receive the rewards again.
You can also get 2 Advice of Valks (+150) for the launch of Permanent Seasons through the Season Pass and as a special graduation reward instead of the previous +100.
Season ++ Changes
During Season ++ the Combat EXP bonus has been increased to +1000%. There's also a bunch of extras during Season ++ some of which will carry over into the permanent Season servers.
The horse that you receive during the Season Pass has also been updated, which will stay after Season ++ ends:

The Radiant Start Box can be claimed from Challenge (Y) after reaching Lv. 60 during Season++ with your Season Character.

Opening the TET Boss weapon box items will give you the weapon suitable for the class of the character you open it on.
This box basically gives you a second Level 61 character and the non-seasonal server equipment to gear it without tagging it which is amazing for new players.
Patrigio's Pocket Watch can be used on a non-seasonal character below Lv. 25 to instantly level them up to 61.
![]() Patrigio's Pocket Watch

There are some other things to keep in mind when opening the gear box:
- Gear obtained from the Radiant Start Box can be enhanced, but cannot be registered on the Central Market.
- If have yet to take part in the [Guaranteed PEN (V) Boss Gear] exchange, you can accept a quest to exchange your gear for Reform Lv. 0 gear at NPC Jetina in any major city, once per Family per equipment slot.
- You can proceed with the guaranteed PEN (V) boss gear exchange questline with PEN (V) Tuvala gear obtained from the season.
- The Radiant Start Box Challenge will be removed once Season++ ends.
