Introduction
The Season Servers are higher rate servers with plenty of boosted progression and rewards!
- +300% Combat Exp, +50% Skill Exp and 30% Life skill Exp (excluding trading.)
- Easy to enhance PEN Tuvala gear, equal to TET boss gear or TRI gold accessories.
- Season pass and level up rewards good for both new and veteran players but not a neccesity.
- Veteran players gain access to a "Simplified" questline that doesn't require main story questing.
PEN Tuvala gear can also be exchanged with NPC Jetina for a set of TET Boss gear of your choice.
This gear can then be used for the Guaranteed PEN system, check out a guide for that here!
If you're a Veteran player or looking for a particular topic, use the page navigation on the right!
Season Server Restrictions
While there are plenty of benefits to starting a season character, there are also a notible list of restrictions as well.
Most notably, the Season servers have their own gear, Naru and Tuvala gear. Standard gear can't be equipped on Seasonal characters.
There is an icon on items to show which equipment can be used by a Season character.
Mainline questline awarded gear and Asula accessories can be equipped.
- Naru Armor - Easy to enhance Beginner Seasonal gear that gets converted into Tuvala gear
- Tuvala Armor - PEN Tuvala armor and weapons are equivelant to TET Boss gear.
There will be more information on Seasonal gearing later on in the guide.
Here are some of the other restrictions Seasonal servers have:
- Seasonal characters need Season Character Tickets in order to be created
- Life skill gear that gives Life Skill Mastery cannot be equipped
- A Seasonal character cannot be tagged or use the tag system
Season Server Benefits
As mentioned in the introduction, Season servers offer increased rates for Exp.
The season server has +300% Combat Exp, +50% Skill Exp to help you level up faster.
For life skillers, Season servers provide 30% Life skill Exp excluding trading. Life skills also give +100% basic resources.
Gathering can also provide double the resources received.
Level up Rewards - At certain levelling milestones you will receive additional rewards like extra enhancing materials.
Season Pass - The season pass provides a bunch of rewards and alot of them will help with Season gearing, there's also a cash shop version that gives extra rewards.
Treant's Tear - A great life skilling alchemy stone for new players with handy stats
[Season] Seal of Journey - Can be exchanged for another set of amazing rewards, obtained from completing the Season pass, completing the cash shop pass rewards more of them.
Graduation Rewards - When graduating the Season server, you are able to pick from more rewards, including fantastic accessories
These topics will be covered in more detail, remember you can use the page navigation to the right to find a specific topic!
Starting a Season Character
Now that Seasons are Permanent, you can choose to create a Season character at any time you like, as long as you have a Season Character Ticket.
When you head to the character creation window and select create a new character, you'll be given the option to create a Season character like below.
Initially everyone is given 2 Season Character Tickets with the launch of Permanent Seasons and more will be given out at random intervals.
You'll also be able to see how many of your Season Character Tickets are in use, a maximum of 5 vouchers can be stored.
You'll then be taken to a class selection screen to choose which character to make.
You'll only lose a voucher once you graduate, so you can still delete a character to change class.
When customizing the appearance of your character, make sure Season character is ticked in bottom right corner.
If you need a preset for your character, why not check out our Beauty Album?
Once you've completed the intro tutorial sequence you'll be asked which starting zone you'd like to choose, generally its better to choose Ancient Stone Chamber.
You can always do the Mountain of Eternal Winter questline at another time.
New Player Season Guide
To start off with, its best to stick with the Main questline, at very least until you reach the first major city you'll come to, Velia.
Alot of things within Black Desert may require certain main line quests to have been completed, so completing it will always be useful.
When you get to Velia, you can grab a Traveler's horse from the stable keeper like mentioned in the guide above which will help you to complete quests faster.
Main Questline Rewards
In general the main questline will provide you with rewards as well as skill points, energy and contribution points.
These can be used for a number of things through out the game like life skills.
You will also obtain:
Naru Armor, weapons and accessories will be given through out the main questline, which can later be converted to better Tuvala Gear.
Beginner Black Stone - You'll gain these stone which can upgrade Naru Weapons and armor
We'll talk about gear upgrading a little later, remember, you can use the page navigation to the right to jump to any topic you'd like!
Leveling through Combat
While it's recommended to follow the main questline, Black Desert is a sandbox game, if you want to go do combat and level up, then do it.
You can always come back to the main story questline later, it'll just be a little easier.
If you're not sure where to head for some combat without questing, use the map (M) to determine good zones.
For areas Level 51 and below, an area's level will be displayed like above, so its easy to find a suitable place.
After level 51, the zones will display the required "AP" or Attack Power recommended to grind the area.
Once you hit level 56, you will unlock either your Succession (an empowerment of your Pre-awaken skill set) or your Awakening, a whole new skill tree with a different weapon.
You may unlock both and switch between the two. Unlocking these will give you a power spike.
Grind spots in Valencia, the desert land to the east will have fantastic early game grind spots with great silver earning potential for its requirements.
There are spots in Valencia that go from 100 AP to 210 AP requirements so there's plenty of diversity.
You can also look towards starting daily grind quests for a PEN Accessory, check out this guide!
Another good option to consider is looking towards an Infinite Potion, either HP or MP!
Though I'd recommend the HP Potion more for new players as the grind spots mentioned can make similar silver per hour to the lower Valencia spots.
In Black Desert there are plenty of ways to increase Combat Exp, here are some of the basic, main ways to do so:
Mercenary's Experience (60 min) - 200% Combat Exp buff that can be converted to a 600% scroll
Combat & Skill EXP 300% Scroll (60 min) - stacks with the above scroll and provides more exp
Blessed Message Scroll (120 min) - Another 200% buff that stacks with the previous buffs.
Book of Combat (1 Day) - The book provides a lengthy timed buff that stacks with the rest.
[Fame] Combat EXP +100% (60 min) - A buff collected from the Rewards (Y) window that requires Fame score, may be unavailable to new players with low fame score.
Lightstone of Wind: Alert (Combat) - 4 of these placed into your artifacts grants a total of +400% Combat Exp
Season Pass Introduction
If you're not familar with the Season Pass, it will be a glowing icon in the upper left corner, near your mini map.
The Season Pass provides you with a whole bunch of objectives, that work to teach you aspects of the game while providing you with valueable Season rewards.
There's also the Black Spirit Pass which is a cash shop version of the Season Pass that provides extra rewards for completing the pass.
Rewards Added to Permanent Season Pass
With the addition of Permanent Seasons, a lot of rewards might feel missing however they've been moved to the Season pass for better quality of life.
Now when upgrading your Tuvala equipment, you'll no longer have to visit Fughar for several quests, instead, the Advice of Valks will be received through the Season Pass.
Some other things that were integrated in this way are the following:
- New/Returning Adventurer Challenges
- Season Character Leveling Challenges (Lv. 50-60)
- Region quests (skill point rewards, etc.)
- Season graduation quests
- Fughar's Fishing Rod quest
Beginning Life Skills
There are also life skilling options that you can do within Black Desert but I would recommend waiting until getting further into your Season Pass.
At the end of the Season pass, there will be a challenge called "The Adventurer That Does It All"
The quest chain "[Season] [Life 101] The Adventurer That Does It All" will teach you all about the different life skills.
I'd recommend using that quest chain as a small tutorial and a good starting point to get into life skills.
The "[Season] [Life 101] The Adventurer That Does It All" quest chain will also reward you with an item that's fantastic for life skillers listed in the section below.
While on the Season server you will also gain a passive +30% Life Skill Exp and 100% extra gathering resource materials.
Treant's Tear & Alchemy Stones
Treant's Tear - This is an Alchemy Stone that you'll be given from the quest chain, it can be equipped and activated with (U)
It provides +30% to Life Exp which will help you to level your life skills as well providing some helpful buffs for your life skils.
This can be repaired by using Mystical Spirit Powder which can be obtained from using grinding down spirit stone Alchemy stones.
Use Grinding in the Processing window (L) on these spirit stones to create Mystical Spirit Powder.
To repair an Alchemy Stone, open your inventory (I) and click on the "Stone" button highlighted below:
A new window will then appear with space for your Alchemy stone and your Mystical Spirit Powder.
Spirit stones can also be used as a great Alchemy stone for beginners, they're rather cheap and can't be repaired.
Guardian Spirit Stone - A protective Spirit Stone that can give you a little more defensive stats
Destruction Spirit Stone - An offensive Spirit Stone usually for combat, not a bad pick.
Life Spirit Stone - Handy for Alchemy, Cooking, Processing, Gathering and Fishing life skills.
[Event] Tachros' Spirit Stone - Great for providing +50% Combat Exp and +30% Skill Exp as well as some offensive bonuses
This Combat Exp buff stacks with the Season Server +300% Combat Exp and other sources of exp like Combat Exp scrolls.
You can even asign it to automatically refresh the buff in your inventory (I) equipment section.
However a [Event] Tachros' Spirit Stone cannot be repaired and will break eventually.
Veteran Player Guide
Before starting a Season character, you can prepare gear to leave in your Velia storage to make your leveling a smoother process.
Here's some of the highest you can start out with (not including extra AP & DP from Journals):
If you don't need a breakdown and want to check out the build on our Gear Planner, click here!
Veteran Season Starting Gear Breakdown
When starting a new Seasonal character you can place items in Velia's storage which is useful for starting the Simplified Questline with a boost.
Helmet - Rugged Valley Helmet - 52 DP
This helmet can be obtained during the by completing Mediah quests.
Complete either "Successful Metal Casting" or "The Bautt Talisman"
You can also get Mediah Merchants Union Helm which is the same stats and is not actually from one of the Main questlines, instead you can head over to Helm's Post in order to grind for it.
Chest - Roaring Magical Armor - 60 DP
This armor is obtained after completing the quest "While preparing for Mediah..." which will give you Dim Magical Armor as a reward.
The Dim Magical Armor can then be converted to a Roaring Magical Armor through the "Magic Armor Exchange" questline from the Black Spirit "Suggested" quest tab.
Gloves - Honorary Combatant's Gloves - 38 DP
You can get these gloves from the quest "[Valencia] Torenandu's Declaration of War" during the Valencia main questline.
Having two crystal slots on these starting gloves can be nice to throw in some cheap accuracy magic crystals if you'd like to.
Boots - Valiant Katan's Boots - 36 DP
Like the gloves above, these boots are grabbed as a reward from the Valencia main questline.
Complete the quest "[Valencia] Bashims' Answer" to obtain them as a reward.
Main Weapon - Black Abyssal Longbow - 77~91 AP
This can be obtained from the Mediah questline from "Glory of the Past" or "The Way Back" which are Crossroad quests, meaning only one must be completed.
These mainhands are great as they can be converted back to a Black Abyssal Weapon Box by talking to the Altinova Skill Instructor NPC Abdul Jaum.
A Black Abyssal Weapon Box can also be opened on new classes as well, meaning this can be used as a Season starting weapon for any character.
You can also make this into a Obisidan Abyssal Longbow to make the stats 85~105 AP.
Once Obsidian, it cannot be converted back into a Black Abyssal Weapon Box so keep that in mind.
To enhance it into an Obsidian weapon, use Heating in the processing window (L) with an Obsidian Alloy.
An Obsidian alloy can be obtained from "Bareed's Obsidian Alloy" or "The Kingdom of Mediah"
Sub Weapon - PEN Sandstorm Dagger - 20 AP
These sub weapons are recieved as a Sandstorm Sub-weapon Box from completeing the Valencia main quest line quest "[Valencia] Taphtar Plain".
It can also be gotten from the quest "Katan Army Sandstorm"
At base these sub-weapons give 3 AP and +30 Monster AP, at PEN they give 20 AP and +10 Monster AP. As the sheet AP increases, the Monster AP bonus decreases.
So if you don't want to enhance the sub-weapon, they can still be handy to have around. They require standard weapon enhancement materials to upgrade.
Rings - TRI Red Sand Crystal Ring - 10 AP
These rings can be obtained from the Valencia main questline. The first one is obtained from the quest "[Valencia] Don't Need a Paper to Prove It!"
The second is also from the Valencia main quest line as a reward for one of the follwoing crossroad quests:
-
"[Valencia] [Crossroad] Barhan's Authority"
-
"[Valencia] [Crossroad] Manmehan's Passion"
-
"[Valencia] [Crossroad] Sahazad's Worth"
-
"[Valencia] [Crossroad] Saya's Interest"
These accessories are enhanced using Black Stone (Weapon) and a Memory Fragment restores 50 durability. Their enhancement rates are also decently high.
Necklace - TRI Tears of the Wind Necklace - 19 AP
This necklace is another main questline reward, this time coming from the O'dyllita main quest,
"[O'dyllita] Saigord, The Shadow of Nightmares"
Like with the rings above, this accessory are enhanced using Black Stone (Weapon) and a Memory Fragment restores 50 durability.
It shouldn't be too difficult to get it to TRI and gives decent AP thanks to being a necklace.
Belt - TRI Rock Heart Belt - 12 AP
A really nice belt, its gives the same stats as a TET Tuvala Belt so will last for most of the Season upgrading process.
This quest is obtained from the Drieghan questline "To Duvencrune"
Just like the other main questline blue accessories, this shouldn't be too difficult to enhance to TRI.
This accessory are enhanced using Black Stone (Weapon) and a Memory Fragment restores 50 durability.
Earring 1 - Bronte's Bolt - 12 AP + 28 Acc
This is a great accessory, even after the Season has been completed thanks the bonus Accuracy. Its basically a TET Dawn Earring with 6 less Accuracy and no Stamina bonus.
The accessory is rewarded during the Mountain of Eternal Winter (Everfrost) questline from the quest
"[Everfrost] Beneath the Bolt Tree"
Earring 2 - TRI Forest's Eye Earring - 11 AP
This earring is rewarded from the Kamasylvia mainquest line, the first quest which awards it is the quest "[Kamasylvia] [Boss] Ronin"
You can also obtain one from "[Kamasylvia] The Heart of Kamasylve" if you'd like a second one.
Like the other blue accessories provided through the main questlines, this shouldn't be too difficult to enhance to TRI.
This accessory are enhanced using Black Stone (Weapon) and a Memory Fragment restores 50 durability.
Asula Accessories
If you don't have all of the accessories from the diffferent questlines, don't worry, Asula accessories will work fine.
They will be replaced by Tuvala gear faster, but the AP & DP is fine to do beginner Valencia spots.
Below is the same gear set using Asula accessories instead (does not include AP & DP from Journals.)
Simplified Main Questline
For Veteran players, the best route to go down is the Simplified questline if you want to complete the Season server quickly.
Simply follow the main quest up until "[Balenos] Dark Clouds Over Velia" which will give you the option to select the Simplified questline.
If you've not done the Simplified questline before, you're basically just rewarded for leveling up.
You can see the rewards and objectives below, this should give you plenty of materials to enhance your Naru gear to PEN in order to convert it into a PRI Tuvala gear

Naru and Tuvala Gear
While leveling on the Season server you will be awarded with Naru gear which has incredibly high enhancement rates.
These rates help give new characters faster progression and most people won't even bother using fail stacks on Naru gear.
To enhance Naru you need Beginner Black Stones
You should be awarded plenty through the Main or Simplified questlines and the season pass.
When you make your Naru gear, make sure that you check the Season pass for related milestones. You will need to equip the Naru gear in order for them to complete.
Once your Naru Armor and gear is PEN you can convert it to Tuvala Armor and gear
If you accidently convert to Tuvala gear without equipping them for the Season pass talk with your Black Spirit (,) then the "chat" option.
To enhance Tuvala Armor and gear will cost Time-filled Black Stones instead of Beginner Black Stones
Tuvala gear is much more difficult to enhance than Naru Armor and gear but still has enhanced rates, its recommended to use fail stacks.
Here is the recommended fail stacks for Tuvala Armor and gear, along with accessories.
Obviously the chance is still RNG and these fail stacks should only be used as guidelines.

Time Filled Black Stone changes
In an attempt to unify items and reduce item bloat within Black Desert, there have been changes to season materials to make them more streamlined.
Magical Refined Black Stones - Previously would be used to guarantee an enhancement at the cost of the item's max durability, its recommended to use these for DUO to TRI enhancements.
To repair Tuvala Armor and gear you must use Tuvala Ore at a blacksmith to repair the max durability.
Here is the materials needed before the changes:
Time-filled Black Stone
|
Refined Magical Black Stone
|
Tuvala Ore
|
- Tuvala Gear Enhancement | - Guaranteed Enhancement of Tuvala Gear | - Recover max durability of Tuvala Gear - Exchange for Tuvala accessories |
After the changes all of these are now handled by Time-filled Black Stones like below:

|
||
- Enhancement/Guaranteed Enhancement of Tuvala Gear - Exchange for Tuvala accessories - Recover max durability of Tuvala Gear ※ The number of consumed items will vary based on its usage. |
Tuvala gear will also no longer degrade below TRI to make enhancing it much smoother.

Notable Season Pass Rewards
There's alot of items on the Season Pass, here are some of the most notable ones and what they do!
[Season] Seal of Journey- The Permanent Season now offers a new type of Seal. Players who purchase the Black Spirit Pass will gain an extra 80 of them.
Without the pass players will get 120 in total, with the BlackSpirit Pass you'll have 200 to exchange.
These can also be turned in after you graduate from the Season servers if needed.
Frozen Tides Black Stone - This will allow you to guarantee an enhancement from TET to PEN on Tuvala gear, usually used on your weapon of choice.
Boiling Tides Black Stone - This guarantees a TET to PEN enhancement on Tuvala accessories best used on a Tuvala Necklace for the highest AP reward.
There are a few more things to keep in mind when looking at the Season pass and Black Spirit Pass
Time-filled Black Stone - These are used for enhancing Tuvala gear, the end game ear for Season servers.
Event] All-new ADV Support Box - Contains some useful items along with Cron Stones x500.
The Black spirit pass gives an extra 1800 of these which can provide quite the jump start in gearing. But, these are not a finite resource. There are plenty of ways to obtain these on Season severs.
You'll have no problem upgrading your gear even if it takes a little longer, but a good option to jump ahead.
Once your gear has been maxed to PEN, you can either sell these or exchange them to NPC Fughar for other rewards.
Cron Stone - These are used to protect your enhancements from downgrading, the Black Spirit Pass provides an extra 250 of them.
I'd highly recommend that you don't use these on Tuvala gear, even if it may seem tempting.
Season Seal Exchange
As mentioned above, each Season has its own exchangable item obtained through level up boxes and the Season pass.
They can be taken to NPC Pulvio in Velia. Just right click the item and you'll auto path, here's his location.
You will receive 120 [Season] Seal of Journey from the season pass and another 80 can be obtained from the Black Spirit Pass which is the cash shop version of the Season Pass.
This is the list for what the [Season] Seal of Journeyl can be exchanged for, which the item describes:
Generally speaking the best options are the 1 Quest per Family options.
Advice of Valks (+100) is one of the best options available, its a great starting point for more difficult to enhance items.
Choose Your Pet Box - A really good option, especially if you don't have 5 tier 4 or tier 5 pets yet.
The pet options are: Flondor Duck, Shaggy Dog, Phoniel Squirrel, Otter, Lost Penguin and Fluffy.
All of these are 900 Pearls except for Otter and Lost Penguin which are 1100 Pearls.
Mount Skill Selection Coupon - A good choice for new players, it can help your horse gain the correct skill to eventually be made into a dream horse.
Season Quests & Content
There are a few things unique to the Season server to help players with gearing up such as quests, grind spot specific rewards, events or boss summon items.
There is also Season content that provides more accessible versions of existing content to be viable for Season characters.
Weekly Quests
One of the best ways to get materials for upgrading your Tuvala Gear is to complete a weekly quest that rewards various upgrade materials.
You can find the quests by opening the Quest Window (O) and heading to the 'Recurring' tab.
There are a good amount of quests to choose from, all suitable for lower levels of gear score.
Note that once you have accepted the quest, it does not have to be completed by a season character or on a Season server.
If you are a veteran player, feel free to switch to your main to complete these, though obviously you wouldn't receive the Exp.
As of the Spring 2023 Season, the weekly quest requirements have been reduced by around x10!
Rift's Echo Boss Summons
As mentioned, the Season server has a unique boss summon that rewards Season related gear and materials called Rift's Echo
Rift's Echo - Rewarded from weekly grind quests or from collecting and combining Rift's Fragments. They can only be completed on a Season Server
Rift's Fragment - Turn off "Auto Arrange" in your inventory (I) and arrange 5 of these into a '+' shape, you will be able to combine them into a Rift's Echo.
You are able to obtain Rift's Fragments from grinding or the gathering life skill.
For a Rift's Echo its recommended to find a party of 5 players, this is a boss summon scroll that usually summons 3 bosses.
Occassionaly, players may get lucky enough to get a rare boss spawn for additional rewards.
Right clicking on a Rift's Echo will take you to the necessary summon location if you are on a Season channel.
Red Battlefield
The Red Battlefield is one of the examples of content that is adjusted to be more suitable for Season Characters.
You can see which games are for Season characters only by looking for the Season server icon like below
The Red Battlefield is an instanced based, battleground PvP system that consists of two teams. Points are awarded for scoring kills and lost for being killed.
At the end of the match the team with the most points wins. There are three different maps to choose from.
You must be at least level 50 to enter the Red Battlefield but level 61 is recommended.
To enter the Red Battlefield, open your menu (Esc) then search for Red Battlefield.
There is a daily Red Battlefield Season quest that you can complete for the following rewards.

Before graduating and converting any gear, its highly recommended that your Tuvala Armor and gear are enhanced to PEN.
You will also receive a Gift Box Full of Memories
[Season] Boss Gear Exchange Coupon - Once you've converted your Tuvala gear to Tuvala gear equippable by a normal character, it can be exchanged for a TET boss piece using this coupon.

If this is your first time choosing a reward the PEN (V) Capotia Necklace is the best choice as it provides the most AP.
Generally the PEN (V) Capotia Ring is picked instead of the earring, again for AP purposes. If you're a new player the accessories will always be the better choice.
Perilla's Star is a decent alchemy stone with a +1 DP increase as well, but not as valueable as the accessories in terms of gear progression.
After Season Graduatation
Once you graduate on to the normal servers you will be able to begin the Progression Pass. you'll be able to find it in the top right corner of your screen.
This is the icon to look for! The progression pass has a whole bunch of objectives and rewards.
The tasks will help you to learn the systems within Black Desert and its highly recommended that you complete it even if just for the rewards alone.
The progression of the pass is Family based, meaning you can work towards its completion on any non-Season character.
Jetina's Guaranteed PEN Equipment
As previously mentioned, Jetina's Guaranteed PEN Gear is a good next step for Season characters.
We have a guide for Jetina's Guaranteed Boss Gear here!
There's also a guide for Jetina's Guaranteed PEN Accessories here!
These consist of grindable objectives that help you push towards PEN equipment and are great for gear progression for new players.
Abyss One: The Magnus
The Magnus is a quest chain of challenges and puzzles that awards fast travel across the world of Black Desert.
It also awards a new skill, shared storage access between major cities and most importantly for progresson, a PEN boss armor piece of your choice.
See our full guide for The Magnus here!
Adventure Log Journals
Adventure log book journals can give rewards for your family of character, usually in the form of extra AP and DP.
Check out our guides on these journals for step by step guides here to help you progress your gear score!
Permanent Season TLDR
If you're just here for the changes, here's it breifly summarized, the changes are all mentioned in the guide above for more info.
With Seasons now being Permanent you'll be given Season tickets to create Season Characters.
A lot of rewards were also reworked and added to the Season Pass, like upgrading Tuvala gear for Advice of Valks and things like level up rewards.
The Season pass can be completed once per Season character ticket, meaning with the two we have you can run through it twice currently.
Fughar's Timepiece has been removed, you can no longer clone a Season character.
You can now graduate at any time as long as the usual requirements are met.
[Season] Seal of Journey will be the Permanent Season seals, you'll get 120 from the Season pass and an extra 80 if you buy the cash shop version.
The one time rewards are once per account and do not reset unlike the Season pass, meaning even if you use another Season Character Ticket, you can't receive the rewards again.
You can also get 2 Advice of Valks (+150) for the launch of Permanent Seasons through the Season Pass and as a special graduation reward instead of the previous +100.
