Introduction
New Sovereign sub-weapons have been added with the new Edania region update!
- Primordial sub-weapons are a mix of Nouver and Kutum with much higher stats as a result!
- The Sovereign sub-weapons are made in pretty much the same way as regular Sovereign weapons
- The weapons feature the same type of glow effect as their regular weapon counterparts as well
- The jump in AP from a PEN Blackstar sub-weapon to the new Sovereign sub-weapons is pretty massive!
Sovereign Sub-Weapon Monster AP
Sovereign sub-weapons are more of the same, they're made in a similar way to regular Sovereign weapons for Main hand and Awakening weapons.
On first look, you might notice that the Sovereign sub-weapons have much more AP but less monsterAP on their listed stats, here's an example of a base Sovereign sub-weapon vs a PEN Blackstar:
But you have to take into account the new changes to AP that was added with the Edania patch, every 1 AP beyond 310 gives you another 8 monster AP.
This means the drastic sheet AP increase from a Sovereign sub-weapon will more than make up for the lower Extra AP against Monsters stat on the item's stat info if you have over 310 AP. Sovereign sub-weapons also can be reformed.
Crafting Sovereign Sub-Weapons
This is the part most similar to the other weapons but with extra steps. You'll need to use new crafting materials in order to craft the Sovereign sub-weapon, not just a two PEN Blackstars.
[Sovereign Sub-weapon Crafting Methods]
Method 1 : PEN (V) Blackstar Sub-weapon + PEN (V) Blackstar Sub-weapon + Gem of Twilight
Method 2 : PEN (V) Blackstar Sub-weapon + PEN (V) Kutum Sub-weapon (Caphras Lv. 20) + PEN (V) Nouver Sub-weapon (Caphras Lv. 20)
Method 3 : PEN (V) Blackstar Sub-weapon + Gem of Twilight + Gem of the Primordial
The Gem of Twilight and a new Gem of the Primordial can be used when crafting the Sovereign sub-weapons, here's how to craft them.

Just like with the other weapons, once you've got all the materials ready to craft your new weapon, you'll need to head over to the Land of Morning Light:
Here's a better look at the location, although most people worried about the Sovereign sub-weapons probably already have the main weapons!
Once there just interact with the statue as normal, this time the UI will be slightly different for sub weapons as more ingredients are needed for the crafting process.
Also be aware that PEN Godr-Ayed Weapons cannot be used as Sovereign Weapon crafting materials. To use them, you first have to exchange it for a PEN Blackstar Weapon using the Scorching Sun Crystal.
If you're having trouble with Reformed weapons, you can use a Mirror of Equilibrium that can be purchased from a Blacksmith to extract the reform stone first.
