Introduction
Fairies are secondary pets in Black Desert that act as companions giving buffs and quality of life changes!
-
Fairies can have up to five skills depending on their tier and level.
-
All Fairies start with a passive skill, Gift, which gives +1 Luck.
-
Fairies can increase your Weight Limit to up to 125% which will always be useful.
-
Some quality of life Fairy skills can automatically use potions or items for you.
Although Fairys are infamous for RNG, even a basic Fairy can provide alot of value without min maxing!
Obtaining a Fairy
There are some requirements to unlocking your first fairy. Your character must be at least Level 53 and the Calpheon main quests: “Looking for Adventurers” or “[Boss] Witch-Hunting” must also have been completed in order to start the Fairy quest line.
Before starting the Fairy quest line, get 2
Cooking Honey and 1
Laila's Petal.
Cooking Honey can be obtained from Hunting or the Marketplace.
Laila's Petal you can get from grinding, life skills and the Loyalties shop.
Loyalties are a free currency obtained from daily logins and can be collected from the Reward window (Y). They can then be spent in a section of the Cash Shop (F4).
Next, open your quest window (O), click “Suggested” and locate the “Fairy Mysterious Companion” Quest chain. It's a small, simple set of quests that doesn't take long.

If you can't see the quest available, you may need to enable “All Quests” in the quest window, just click on the icon in the Quest Window so that it's colored like below.

You'll then be sent to Kamasylve Temple, just a short distance from Heidel.

Once there, simply follow the quest line instructions, handing in the
Cooking Honey and the
Laila's Petal. When finished the quest line, you will be awarded with
Sealed Fairy Wings.

If you open the
Sealed Fairy Wings you'll obtain a Fairy of a random tier. To access the Fairy Information window you can click this icon, usually on the top left of your screen.

This will open up the screen below, which will allow you to manage the settings of your Fairy.

To summon your Fairy, simply click the Summon button in the bottom right corner.
Tiers & Skills
The number of skills a Fairy can learn is dependent on their Tier, with the exception of Gift (Luck +1), which all Fairies have naturally.
-
Faint Fairy Wings is Tier 1 with a level 10 cap. Tier 1 Fairies can learn 1 skill.
-
Glimmering Fairy Wings is Tier 2 with a level 20 cap. Tier 2 Fairies can learn 2 skills.
-
Brilliant Fairy Wings is Tier 3 with a level 30 cap. Tier 3 Fairies can learn 3 skills.
-
Radiant Fairy Wings is Tier 4 with a level 50 cap. Tier 4 Fairies can learn 5 skills.
Each skill a Fairy can learn has different Ranks, the higher the Rank, the greater the effect. A Fairies tier determines the maximum skill rank it can learn.
-
Tier 1 Faint Fairies Wings can learn skills up to Rank I
-
Tier 2 Glimmering Fairies Wings can learn skills up to Rank III
-
Tier 3 Brilliant Fairies Wings can learn skills up to Rank IV

As skills for your Fairy are learned randomly, there is a method of changing the skills your Fairy has learned, for more information see the Fairy Management & Growth section.
Personalities & Appearance
There are 5 different Fairy Personalities that affect your Fairies voice lines and their Morning Star glow color. Serene Fairies are the only personalities that don't speak but there are no differences in appearance other than the Morning Star's glow.
-
Serene's glow is yellow.
-
Joyful's glow is orange.
-
Aloof's glow is blue.
-
Prim's glow is pink.
-
Meticulous glow is green.
Occasionally there are Pearl shop sales for a Fairy Appearance Change Coupon, the sales last for a limited time. The Tick-tock Fairy cash shop appearance grants +10% Skill Exp.

There was also a one time “Berserker” series event tie in with Black Desert where a Puck Fairy Fairy appearance was available.

If you don't want your Fairy to be visible, but still want the benefits of having a Fairy, you can summon your Fairy then hide it. Hit Esc - Settings - General Settings - Show/Hide then select the Hide Fairy option.

If you Unsummon your Fairy to hide it, you won't benefit from any of your Fairies abilities.
You can also turn off your Fairies Voice. Hit Esc - Settings - Audio Settings - Volume then scroll down to the Fairy section.

Clicking the Growth button will allow you to level your Fairy by feeding it various items.

You can feed your Fairy various equipment, though the most cost efficient way is to use Blue gear like the Lemoria or Akum gear sets. Below is item Exp rates.

Generally, it's considered most efficient to Change Fairy's Skills at Level 10.
Theiah's Orb are required to change your Fairy's skills, it gets more expensive to reroll skills every 10 Fairy levels as they gain a new skill.
Theiah's Orb are a cash shop item but are sometimes given out in attendance rewards.

Upon reaching Level 10, you can use the “Change Skill” button on the Fairy Information window. Simply select the skill you wish to change and you will be shown the % chance to obtain the new skill.

There are two different kinds of Rebirth for your Fairy. A persona reset will change the personality of a Fairy.
A Growth Reset will reset the Fairy's level and their skills but a Fairy must be at least Level 10 before a Growth Reset can be used.
- This is the
Fairy Queen's Might cash shop item which is required for both rebirths.
Once a Fairy has reached its maximum level, you can perform Sprouting which will attempt to raise the Fairy into the next tier. This can only be attempted once unless a rebirth is used.
The success chance of Sprouting can be increased up to 100% depending on how many ingredients are used. Sprouting requires
Sweet Honey Wine or
Ornette's Dark Honey Wine.
It's important to note, Sprouting will reset your Fairies' skills upon success.
You can only use one type of wine, not both.
In order to sprout a Tier 3 Fairy into a Tier 4 Fairy, it would cost 400 Sweet Honey Wine or 25 Ornette's Dark Honey Wine for the 100% success rate.
- Sweet Honey Wine can be obtained from the marketplace or Fairy Exchanges.
- Ornette's Dark Honey Wine is a Pearl shop item and sometimes given for login rewards.
If you have acquired knowledge of
Sweet Honey Wine then you can also craft it through cooking. The recipe for making Sweet Honey Wine is:
- x2 Top-Quality Cooking Honey
- x2 Fruits -
Apple,
Strawberry,
Grape,
Pineapple,
Cherry and
Banana all work.
- x10 Sugar
- x4 Full-bodied Exotic Herbal Wine
You can also upgrade lower tier Fairies all the way up to Tier 4 but it's likely much more efficient to exchange
Laila's Petal for a Tier 3 Fairy Wings.
Laila's Petal & Fairy Exchange
If you'd like to try and get a higher tier Fairy, it may be easier to exchange more
Laila's Petal for
Sealed Fairy Wings. This is repeatable and can be done at any time. If you get a Fairy you don't want, it can be exchanged for items.
Fairy Wings can be exchanged to NPC Ceilyn for
Sweet Honey Wine.
-
Tier 1
Faint Fairy Wings give 1x
Sweet Honey Wine -
Tier 2
Glimmering Fairy Wings give 3x
Sweet Honey Wine -
Tier 3
Brilliant Fairy Wings give 6x
Sweet Honey Wine -
Tier 4
Radiant Fairy Wings give 10x
Sweet Honey Wine

Tier 3 and Tier 4 Fairy Wings can also be exchanged for
Mythical Feather(s) at NPC Herawen. Which is an ingredient in making a Tier 10 Horse or can be sold on the Market.

- Laila's Petal can also be exchanged for Fairy Blessings and Mystical Spirit Powder.
- Mystical Spirit Powder is used to repair the durability of Alchemy Stones.
- Fairy's Blessing can be used as an alternative to Valks' Cry.
They're used in order to gain a higher Enhancement chance, they do not stack additionally to Valks' Cry, your family's Valks Enhancement Chance limit remains the same. Valks' Cry Enhancement shows underneath fail stacks in the enhancement window.
