- You can store up to 50 Magic Crystals in your Magic Crystal Inventory to save inventory space
- Magic Crystals can be used to bypass certain AP caps by utilizing other stat bonuses.
If you're a returning player, it's important to note that Magic Crystals are no longer Socketed in Gear.
Introduction to Magical Crystals
Magical Crystals are basically additional stats, that's as simple as it gets. They're a way to provide bonuses to your character and some extra customization.
Like many systems like this that appear in different games, there is a meta, a standard best build that suits most needs, generally split into PvE and PvP.
Here's how to access your Magical Crystals, first, you'll need to open your inventory and look for the Transfusion icon:
It's located at the bottom left of your inventory like the image above, clicking on this icon will open your Crystal Preset.
The locked icons are Magical Crystal slots obtained through either questing or gear, the top left and right being the gear unlocked slots.
The bottom left and right are unlocked by completing certain sections of the Land of the Morning Light main questline.
The central Crystal slot is made available by enhancing your cosmetic outfit in order to have a crystal slot as well.
To add a Magic Crystal, you need to place it from your Crystal Inventory, you can access this by clicking the View Magic Crystals icon.
Once you click the icon you'll be given a new window, this is the Crystal Inventory UI.
To add a Magical Crystal to your Crystal Inventory simply right click it, you'll then be met with a warning of how the Magical Crystal can be removed from the inventory again.
A Crystal Extraction Tool can be obtained for 1000 Loyalties in the Loyalty shop (F3) where as Black Spirit Essence is the pearl shop equivalent.
You can also craft a Crystal Extraction Tool using Magical Shards x10 and Pure Iron Crystal x100 and combining with Simple Alchemy (L)
This is to just to safely remove Magical Crystals from your Crystal Inventory so that they are placed in your main inventory again.
You do not need to use these removal tools to change out the Magical Crystals in your Crystal Preset.
You can also remove Magical Crystals from your Crystal Inventory for free but the Crystals will be destroyed in the process.
You can also freely swap between Presets at any time on the left side of the Transfusion window, and you can Rename your Crystal Preset to be easier to remember, which can be useful for PvE or PvP.
Crystal Groups, Limits and Gear Planner
When you look at the tooltip of a Magical Crystal you'll be able to see the Crystal Group type and the number limit, here's an example:
If you're not sure about which Crystals belong to which group or would like to plan out your Crystal preset without looking in game, you can use our Gear Planner.
You can head to the Crystals section of the Gear Planner and create a new preset.
Once you've clicked the "Create New Preset" button, you can click on an empty Crystal slot.
After you click on a empty Crystal slot, you'll be able to view the different Crystals available and which groups they belong to.
This will help you organize a Crystal Preset if you'd like to come up with your own Crystal build or need some help with which Crystals you'd like to use.
Unlocking More Crystal Slots
As mentioned previously, there are four additional crystal slots that can be unlocked to give you more Crystal Slots.
Land of Morning Light Crystal Slots
This will apply to all of your presets, making it a worthwhile investment. Two of the Crystals slots can be unlocked through the Land of the Morning Light questline, making it basically mandatory along with its other benefits.
Costume Crystal Slot
For the Central Crystal slot, you need to use a Black Spirit's Claw on a cosmetic outfit which will enhance it to have an extra Crystal slot.
Check out our Tailouring Coupon guide here that shows you everything you'll need to do in order to obtain crystals for this slot:
Boss Heart Crystal Slots
The other two are unlocked through using boss hearts. A Heart of Karanda will unlock the top left slot only, but are relatively available and really good for mid game.
A Inverted Heart of Garmoth will unlock the top left and the top right crystal slots and is one of the most sought after items in the game.
We have some guides on how you can grab a Garmoth Heart using a guarenteed questline and the pity system which you can check out here:
Land of the Morning Light Crystals
New crystals were added with the Land of the Morning Light expansion and can only be obtained from LoML content and crafting.
The new Tear crystals are generally considered best in slot crystals with incredible stats!
Here's how to craft the Tear crystals, you can hover over the tooltips to see the crystal's stats:

Magical Shards can be obtained by Heating (L) Sealed Black Magic Crystals which can be obtained from grinding or the Central Marketplace.
In order to obtain Magical Lightstone Crystals you can exchange Lightstones that you don't need to NPC Wandering Alchemist Dalishain in any major city.
Next are powerful crafted crystals that can be made using Simple Alchemy (L). hover over the tooltips for stats:
Crystal of Decimation, Crystal of Darkness and Crystal of Bitterness can be obtained through boss bundles, sniper hunting in the Land of Morning Light region.
You can also obtain them from excavation nodes within the Land of the Morning Light.
The next crystal works as an upgrade material, you can use Crystal of Harmony to improve Combined crystals:
As with previous combinations, you can use Simple Alchemy (L) in order to combine the crystals and materials.
Life Skill Crystals
In order to obtain life skill crystals from the Land of the Morning Light you will need Forest Crystals.
|
How to Obtain:
Hunt with a ranged weapon in the Land of the Morning Light

You can also obtain a Forest Crystal through exchanging 1000 Sangpyeong Coins to NPC Hyunyong in Moodle Village.
Obtaining the crystals will then allow you to obtain either a Life or Vital Crystal through Simple Alchemy (L):

You will also be able to obtain 1 Life Crystal and 1 Vital Crystal from NPC Hyunyong in Moodle Village during the LomL main questline.
Crystal Builds
With changes to the Crystal system, presets allow you to min-max different setups rather than having to rely on a hybrid setup for PvE / PvP.
This opened up a lot of options for players to get more value out of their Crystals depending on what task they're performing at the time.
Budget Build
For the early game, or if you're prioritizing silver for upgrades rather than Crystals, you're able to build some effective Crystal builds for a relatively cheap amount.
This build would be perfect for Season characters who have just finished upgrading their Tuvala gear and just need a Crystal setup to make them more effective at early game PvE spots.
This budget setup costs almost nothing except for the two Ah'krad Crystals that can be used for future builds and will last you a while.
This Crystal setup is using the assumption that you have completed the Land of the Morning Light questline but do not have a Heart of Karanda or Inverted Heart of Garmoth which aren't really early game items.
Here is the layout to make it easier to see how the Crystals have been placed:
To explain the build a little, in early game spots you really won't need too much accuracy, which reduces the cost of the build by quite a lot as we don't need JIN: Magic Crystal Vipers.
Combined Magic Crystal - Macalod - We'll use four of these to get the set bonuses, it'll give extra AP and accuracy as well as some stamina.
I would argue that HAN Combined Magic Crystal - Macalod aren't worth the price point for the additional stats they provide, especially this early in the game.
Resplendent Kydict's Crystal - Adventure - Some extra HP and combat EXP, these will be replaced later and only used to fill slots, these can be swapped out if you'd like.
Black Magic Crystal - Valor are decent Critical Hit Crystals, super cheap and used to get to level 4 Critical Hit, this will let you get level 5 Critical Hit by using a Simple Cron Meal or Exquisite Cron Meal.
We want our Critical Hit high so we can get value from Critical Hit Damage % crystals that we'll talk about next.
Magic Crystal of Infinity - Critical Hit these work with the Critical Hit chance crystals we've just mentioned, and work to increase the damage of your Critical Hits.
These two crystal types basically mimic the combo of Dark Red Fang Crystal - Valor and Corrupted Magic Crystal as a cheaper option for less offensive stats.
Ah'krad Crystals stretches the cost to what it is, but for it's price point these crystals are amazing, giving Monster AP and accuracy in one crystal.
Mid Game Crystal Build
For this build, we'll work under the assumption that the player is comfortably mid game and has completed the Land of the Morning Light questlines, has an Outfit Crystal Slot and is using a Heart of Karanda.
This time we'll basically be just upgrading the options we've already established in the first build, the costume crystal allows us to hit Level 3 Critical Hit which can get us to Level 5 with Cron meals.
Combined Magic Crystal - Macalod - We stick with this type of Macalod to keep costs lower, I don't think the HAN versions are worth it as we'll need to upgrade later anyway.
Rebellious Spirit Crystal replaces our Magic Crystal of Infinity - Power and actually makes our silver cost look a lot higher than it actually is.
You can obtain a Rebellious Spirit Crystal by combining the other Crystals needed to create one, they're given as rewards for completing Mediah, Valencia's Treasure and Kamasylvia main story questlines.
Valencia's Treasure requires the completion of the Valencia 1 main questline in before you can start it.
If you earn the Crystal this way, it'll save you around 1.8b at the time of writing, so it reduces our cost by basically half.
Dark Red Fang Crystal - Valor will give us +2 Critical Hit, replacing the need for Black Magic Crystal - Valor and provide extra ap.
Ancient Spirit's Crystal - Valor will provide the additional +1 Critical Hit that will allow you to hit +5 Critical Hit with food buffs previously mentioned.
JIN Magic Crystal - Viper gives a good amount of accuracy and are usually featured in most crystal builds, they're expensive, but worth the price.
The rest are just upgrades of the previous builds, the only other thing to mention is the Girin's Fragment, while expensive, the stats make it one of the best crystals in the game.
The more expensive versions or crafted versions provide better stats, but the stats provided by the cheap version give the main combat stats
End Game Pve Crystal Build
The end game build will work of the basis that all crystal slots have been unlocked and a Inverted Heart of Garmoth is being used.
This is the natural progression from our last build, the crystals in this build are generally just better, more expensive versions of the previous build.
Crystal of Elkarr is switched out for Crystal of Brutal Decimation depending on how much accuracy you have, if you prefer running accuracy you can upgrade to the Visionary Crystal of Elkarr
By this point in the game you should be familiar with stats and magic crystals enough to customize anything as necesasry for your build but the above build is considered Best in Slot for PvE.
Life Skilling Magical Crystals
Life skills have been simplified to be much easier to understand and choose from, previously they would be split up per life skill but that's no longer the case.
Now, you only have to choose from stat boosting Magic crystals or exp boosting Magical crystals making it incredibly simple.
Ancient Spirit's Crystal - Swiftness is the outfit crystal used for the additional movement speed, not necessary but if you have it you can use it.
PvP DR Build
For the first PvP build, we'll take a look at DR (Damage reduction) this is a focus around the Damage reduction stat.
Right away it looks almost completely different from the PvE builds but thanks to Magical crystal templates you can switch out sets as needed.
This means you don't have to mix and match to try and make a PvX build and can instead making specialized builds.
Ultimate Combined Magic Crystal - Hoom is the most obvious change, moving away from the offensive Macalods in favour of survivability.
This might seem a bit counter productive but the survivability is necessary to be able to damage trade, the Hooms provide so much value that they're basically mandatory.
JIN Magic Crystal - Viper gives a good amount of accuracy and are just as important for PvP as they are in PvE.
Haetae's Tear is basically the PvP version of the Girin's Tear and is generally accepted as the goto option for PvP builds because of it's amazing stats.
Glorious Crystal of Gallantry - Olucas this provides more damage through human damage and accuracy as well as providing attack speed boosts.
This can be swapped out for other Olucas crystals if you like the sound of more ignore resistance like Olucas' Crystal - Ignore Grapple Resistance
Visionary Crystal of Elkarr more accuracy for hitting high evasion targets and ignore resistance to help you land crowd control effects.
JIN Glorious Crystal of Honor - Special Evasion these are another BIS pick featured in the most common PvP builds, special evasion helps you evade special effects like Critical Hit to help with survivability.
Crystal of Frozen Bitterness provides a crazy amount of defensive stats for just one crystal and the monster dr can help with certain classes' pet damage, though it's not exactly the reason we pick these.
Rebellious Spirit Crystal a bit more survivability in the form of additional hp and comes with some damage as well, you can swap this out for something else should you want to.
PvP Evasion Build
With a lot of the crystals being almost mandatory for PvP we won't see a huge amount of difference in the Evasion builds that are popular, the builds are almost identical.
Put simply, all we're really doing is switching out the Glorious Crystal of Gallantry - Olucas for the more evasion focused JIN Magic Crystal - Harphia.
Again, I'd say you could switch out the Rebellious Spirit Crystal if you have something else in mind, otherwise it provides some extra damage and HP.
PvP Glass Cannon
This is a full on damage build that will leave you squishier than the other builds in exchange for more Human damage, which effects players in PvP.
Even in the glass cannon build you can see we're picking up some of the same crystals, again this is just because they're too valuable to not run.
While we're cutting back on some defensives for more damage, you can't do any damage if you're dead, that's why we still run the powerful BIS defensive crystals.
Haetae's Tear is still used because of it's amazing stats, even though it might be tempting to consider running Bonghwang's Tear.
Red Battlefield Crystal: Viper are used instead of
Crystal of Frozen Bitterness swapping out those defenses for the extra damage.
Red Spirit Crystal replaces the Rebellious Spirit Crystal favouring full damage again instead of some damage and some HP.
Glorious Crystal of Gallantry - Olucas are also back to provide more human damage to our build as well.
EXP Boost Crystals
If you really want to focus on combat exp, for things such as levelling an alt or maybe even just for early game locations where you one shot, there's a build for that.
Resplendent Kydict's Crystal - Adventure is all that is used as it can be slotted without limit, letting you stack combat exp all the way up to 320%
This is also useful if you or your friends like to boost each others alts for things like seasons as well, especially if you have the crystals just lying around.
If you have the Girin's Tear, you can make use of it in the EXP build to raise the total to 375% instead of 320% from only Kydict's.
If you'd like to look at the builds in our Gear Planner, click here! The builds are under the Crystals Section.
Exclusive Kharazad Accessories Crystals
The new Kharazad Accessories crystals added allow you to use another six magic crystal sockets that are exclusive to these accessories.
These Crystals can be obtained from the new Land of the Morning Light's grind spots or from the Marketplace.
The only Magical Crystals that can be added to these slots are the new unique crystals that have the "Dawn" group name.
Another good thing about these Magic Crystals is that these exclusive crystal sockets don't shatter upon death, so you don't have to worry about losing them.
The Magic Crystals have JIN / BON / WON versions similiar to other crystals:
