Introduction
Olvia Academy is a great new player experience helping to learn the Life Skills of Black Desert!
- For completing each Life Skill course you'll gain some decent starting gear and 1000 Cron Stones
- There's also an Olvia Academy Pass that gives bonus Life Skill Exp for the course you work on
- Processing is an AFK friendly Life Skill that you can leave running for hours on end by the warehouse
- The Life Skill courses let you grab a lot of Exp and levels for the Life Skill you're interested in as well!
Starting the Processing Course
If you haven't tried any of the Olvia Academy courses yet, it's really easy to get started. You'll need to have graduated from the Season Server and be at least Level 60 to join the academy's classes.
You'll get rewards just for signing up in the form of an Academy Outfit and some Olvia Academy coins which have some nice rewards as well, for more information on how the Olvia Academy works, you can check out our guide here:
Processing is really easy to complete, the course is simple once you understand how the Processing works. It also doesn't take long to complete and is mostly AFK while you Process the materials you're given from Zaaira.
Starting any of the Olvia Academy courses is easy, just visit NPC Emma Bartali at the front desk of the academy, or just click the green Olvia Academy UI in the top right of the screen, you can then auto navigate to the instructor!

Completing the Processing Course
Unlike a lot of the other courses, there isn't much front loaded information when you join up for the Processing course, you can just speak to NPC Lillia and spam R to get the course underway.
There is a little bit of reading material you can go through in the chat after starting the course, it's voice acted so you can have the NPC go over it if you'd like. Essentially Processing turns items into more valuable items with time.

If you'd like to know extra about each type of Processing, Lillia will also explain it for you in the next quest. Shaking combines ingredients like flour and water to make Dough. Grinding makes powders or juice. Chopping is for wood.
Drying works on sunny days to remove moisture, letting you keep things like fish for longer. Filtering removes impurities, it can be used to make purified water. Heating combines items together with heat.

Those are a TLDR, she'll give you a bit more info, but when you're ready you can tell her "I understand everything!" and move on. As you work through the course you'll advance the Olvia Academy Pass that gives a lot of Exp in the life skill.
You can access it by opening the Olvia Academy menu and clicking on the Academy Pass image on the right side. A new UI will pop up that will let you choose which Life Skill you're working on, you can then gain the Exp as you progress.

For our first task, we'll head over to NPC Zaaira who's located in the main building near Emma Bartali, she gives out materials for a lot of these courses, so you might have already met her. She'll give us the materials we need.
When you've gotten the potatoes from Zaaira, you can open the Processing menu by hitting L, then select Grinding since we're going to be making the potatoes into a powder, potato flour.

If you haven't done so already, you can take out the TRI piece of processing gear they give you right at the start of the course. For the Processing course you'll get a TRI Carta Craftsman's Clothes which buffs your Processing stats.
You can equip this before doing your first Processing task on the potatoes, then just click start when you're ready. It shouldn't take too long to get through the enough potatoes to make 100 potato flour.

The next step will have you process the same items further, you'll take the Potato Flour you've made and combine it with Shaking with water given to you by Zaaira, here's how you process the Potato Dough.

After you're done Shaking, we'll move on to Chopping. You'll be given some wood from Zaaira, you'll then be able to Process this wood twice. First use Chopping on the wood you're given. When you're done with that you can repeat it.
This will let you use Chopping on the Usable Scantling that you've created from the wood given to you by Zaaira which will create the Standardized Timber Square for the quest completion.

After you're all done Chopping, we'll try Drying. You'll be given Milk from Zaaira to be dried into cheese. This one can take a little while to complete but its not hours or anything, you'll be AFK for a good few minutes though.

Next up is filtering river water into Purified Water which can be used to cure heatstroke in the desert, it's also used in a lot of Alchemy if you're interested in that Life Skill, it can also be used in Cooking and even Farming.
Filtering is only available when the wind is blowing so you might have it greyed out in your Processing (L) menu, don't worry it's not broken, you'll be able to Filter again pretty quickly if it's currently unavailable.

We're basically finished with the Processing course, there's just two more to go! Next up is another two step process of making Iron Ingots, you'll just need to use Heating to melt the materials down into the ore.

There'll be a bit of talkling with Lillia as she tells you how to sell your Processed goods, then you'll need to do the final course. It suggests that you can go out and mine all the different gemstones but that'll take a good while.
I just used the Central Marketplace, there's always a huge supply of these gemstones so you should be able to grab them from there. You'll need 7 Respledent Diamond, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Topaz and 15 Gem Polishers

For the Gem Polishers you'll need 15 Pure Powder Reagent, 60 Processed Coal, 90 Purified Water (you'll have this from the Processing course already) and 30 Trace of Nature. You only use the ingredient numbers shown above.
You can then create them at an Alchemy station. You can use the ones in the same building as Zaaira and Emma Bartali, on the west side of the building. Put the same materials like in the image above then hit batch production.

When you're finished you'll have enough Gem Polishers, you can now mix each resplendent gem with 3 of the Gem Polishers by using the Shaking Processing, you'll need to do this for each Gem Stone.

Once you're done, just go talk to Lillia and say the words "Olvium Frontia!" in the general chat to finish the last course. It was pretty quick, not a bad way to get 1000 Crons! Did you like the Processing course? Let us know!
