Shim Cheong's Miraculous Fish Tank

Introduction

Shim Cheong's Miraculous Fish Tank is a must grab for extra space if you're interested in fishing!
  • Shim Cheong's Miraculous Fish Tank acts like a second inventory that only holds fish, giving you +50 slots
  • These 50 slots aren't just storage, they increase the duration of your fish from 2 days to 10 days
  • The questline is super quick, but if you haven't got knowledge on the NPC it can be a bit confusing
  • You shouldn't need more than an hour or two to complete these quests for it, really worth doing

Shim Cheong's Miraculous Fish Tank

Obtaining the fish tank really isn't hard, the questline for it is super easy. You'll be able to do it in an hour or two which is really worth it for increasing the life time of your fish by so much.

The extra 50 slots is really helpful, especially for newer characters who are going through the Olvia Academy to get into Fishing life skills as it enables you to fish AFK overnight. If you need it here's our Olvia Academy Fishing guide:

The only confusing part about this questline is the pre-requisite knowledge needed for one of the quest steps, after that the actual questline for the fish tank is really short, here's the actual questline you'll need to complete:

The fish tank will also extend the duration of your fish from 2 days all the way up to 10 days, so it's great if you AFK fish and don't want to always trade everything each day, allowing you to store fish.

This is even more effective if you've got more inventory slots, letting you max out your inventory with fish before turning them all in at once. Shim Cheong's Fish Tank can also be upgraded to have 100 slots instead of just 50.

While you can do this, I wouldn't say it's a requirement or anything. If anything, I'd test how many fish you actually catch on your AFK time period before investing in this, you might not even catch 100 fish in the time you're away.

Storing them is a really nice feature, O'dylita and Mountain of Eternal Winter fish jump up to 12 days and 15 days respectively but realistically with Abyssal Wells it's so easy to empty your fish at Bukpo trader that it's a non-issue.

Here are some extra details to keep in mind about the fish tank taken from the patch notes:

  • Fish stored in Shim Cheong's Miraculous Fish Tank have their price guarantee duration increased by five times.
  • Fish taken out of Shim Cheong's Miraculous Fish Tank have their price guarantee duration decreased by five times.
  • Fish stored in Shim Cheong's Miraculous Fish Tank can be sold to trade managers and delivered for Imperial Fishing Delivery.
  • If you have Shim Cheong's Miraculous Fish Tank in your bag, fish obtained through fishing will be automatically stored.

There are also some limitations to keep in mind as well:

  • Only fish with a price guarantee duration can be stored in Shim Cheong's Miraculous Fish Tank.
  • You cannot store fish in Shim Cheong's Miraculous Fish Tank if your bag weight exceeds 100%.
  • If there are no fish stored in the fish tank, it can be moved to other town storages connected by maids or the Magnus, but it cannot be moved if there are fish stored.

Pre-Requisites For The Quests

Before you start the questline, I'd recommend you get the knowledge needed to complete it first to save you some time. You can start the questline without this knowledge but you need it to finish up the quests for the fish tank.

The questline you'll need to complete as a pre-requisite is called The Tale of Shim Cheong which you can start by talking to Shim the Blind, outside of the Sea Palace.

You'll be able to speak to him right before the water's edge, here's a picture of who to look for. You should see a quest when speaking to him, if not, make sure "All" quests are enabled in the "O" quest menu.

This quest is basically just all talking, you might need to run around a little and come to and from the Sea Palace. To enter the Sea Palace if you've never been there, you'll need to head up to the cliffside.

Once you're up there you'll see a swirling whirlpool, leaping into this will teleport you to the Sea Palace. You'll get a loading screen if you've done it right.

You can tell where to land from the different colouration to the water. You can dive in by holding Shift+W for a sprint run up before you leap in. When you land in the water it might take a few seconds to trigger the loading screen.

If it's your first time down in the Sea Palace, getting out of there can be a little confusing just because of the layout of the place. First you'll probably find NPC Shim Cheong, through quest navigation.

If you can't find her like that, you can always use the NPC locator which is the magnifying glass by the mini map in the top right of your screen.

Now that you're at NPC Shim Cheong you can use her as a landmark to find the exit the Sea Palace, it's really not that tricky once you can see the exit in the distance. It's the large tower off far from the rest of the palace.

When you head over there, you'll come to the tower after running up some steps, interact with the map to exit the Sea Palace, you can choose a few locations that you'd like to exit at.

Make your way through the questline, it's quick and basically just talking, you'll have no problems completing it or anything like that. Once you have the knowledge from it you can complete the other quest to actually get the tank.

Obtaining the Fish Tank

Now that you've finished the knowledge requirements, you can goto the Sea Palace and visit the otter fishing, NPC Dorio can be found fishing by one of the lakes, he's your quest giver.

You can use the quest's auto-navigation to find him, the quest is called Shim Cheong's Fish Tank! Fresh from the Nethers! You can find it in the suggested menu of your quest log.

After talking to Dorio, he'll ask you to fish for him several times. That's all you'll need to do. After fishing up the required fish, he'll have you talk to Shim Cheong and then you're finished!
