Olvia Academy - Gathering

Introduction

Olvia Academy gives a great introduction to Gathering Life Skills with some great rewards!
  • The Gathering course is a very fast course to complete for the 1000 Cron Stones reward
  • There's also an Olvia Academy Pass that gives bonus Life Skill Exp for the course you work on
  • You'll also gain 3 Mellow Herbal Medicine you can sell for over 1b silver if you need it!
  • The Gathering course gives a lot of Exp and levels as well as teaching you the basics!

Starting the Gathering Course

If you haven't tried any of the Olvia Academy courses yet, it's really easy to get started. You'll need to have graduated from the Season Server and be at least Level 60 to join the academy's classes.

You'll get rewards just for signing up in the form of an Academy Outfit and some Olvia Academy coins which have some nice rewards as well, for more information on how the Olvia Academy works, you can check out our guide here:

Starting any of the Olvia Academy courses is easy, just visit NPC Emma Bartali at the front desk of the academy, or just click the green Olvia Academy UI in the top right of the screen, you can then auto navigate to the instructor!

Completing the Gathering Course

When starting out, you'll meet your instructor for the course, NPC Zelfinith. You can collect the quest to start the course from her but before you do there's some more information.

If you're new to Gathering, there's some information you can look into by chatting to her. She'll tell you what you can gather, how to get tools, what materials can be used for and about gathering mastery.

Once you've read through any info you might be interested in, you can start the course. She'll give you some tools after you get a chance to read about the different types of gathering.

First up you'll get a chance to test out Hoeing at a nearby potato patch, the quest will trigger the location for you so you can just auto run. Remember to equip the tools that you've been given!

Gathering is simple, making it an chill life skill to repeat over and over. Simply press R to start gathering. You'll just need to gather 20 potatoes, you'll get multiple per gather, you won't have to do this 20 times.

You'll be able to see that when you gather you'll drain your Energy. You can increase your Energy by collecting Knowledge in the game, which you can check in the H menu.

Knowledge comes from most activities in game, killing mobs will gain knowledge as will talking to NPCs for example. If you find yourself in a new town, try talking to every NPC to gather energy.

There are ways to recover energy and NPC Zelfinith will give you an energy potion as a reward. You can even convert your alt characters energy to energy potions at NPCs like Alustin in Velia

This time you'll be tasked to gather some Ash Sap using Fluid Collecting. Make sure you're hitting F5 to switch to Fluid Collecting instead of chopping down the tree with Lumbering.

After this, it's straight on to Butchering. Before you can butcher anything, you'll need to kill it. For regular gathering you can kill mobs with your regular combat weapons.

You'll be quickly leveling up your Gathering through completing these quick quests, there's also rewards you can claim that will give you even more Life Skill experience in the Olvia Academy Pass.

Open the Academy UI in the top right corner of the screen, it's the glowing green icon. You can access the Olvia Academy pass by clicking the Bonus Rewards image to grab your rewards.

The Stella's Spirit Stone is a fantastic Life Skill Alchemy stone, you can conserve this for when you decide on a Life Skill you'd like to pursue because the durability is limited and can't be repaired.

This time it's back to the trees, where you'll actually be chopping them down this time. The good thing about the Gathering Life Skill course is that its pretty fast and you'll get some great starter tools.

You can find these in the bottom corner of the Olvia Academy UI in the "Family Rewards - Life Skill" section in the bottom left corner. You'll also be able to quickly grab 1000 Cron Stones.

After you're done with chopping down the trees, its back to NPC Zelfinith before heading back to the wolves. This time we'll be using Tanning. Use F5 to cycle through the different options again.

This isn't considered Hunting still, these are regular Wolf mobs. If you'd like to learn about Hunting, you can complete the Hunting Course for a great start to that Life Skill as well, here's our guide:

While gathering you can get rare materials from drops like Sharp Black Crystal Shards, increasing your Gathering Mastery will help you get higher drop rates while Gathering.

Leveling up your Gathering will increase your chances of not consuming Energy on a Gather. You can increase your Gathering Mastery through gear and item buffs.

The Olvia Academy Farming course gives you some Floramos Accessories which are the equivalent of TRI Manos Accessories, these can help boost your Life Skill / Gathering Mastery quickly.

The farming course is great to do while you're completing other courses because it has some AFK sections that give you a few hours of down time.

You can get more Floramos Accessories from using the Season Currency, this gives you a really good starting setup to let you try out Gathering.

Since this is an introduction to gathering through completing the course itself, I won't go too much into gearing and will focus on the rest of the course but these accessories are great for a new life skiller!

When it comes to Mining, you don't actually need to look for a rock labelled "Stone" you'll get Rough Stone as a byproduct from Mining basically anything that looks like a rock.

We're basically done already, the gathering course is super quick and a great way to get some extra crons even if you're not interested in Life Skills whatsoever. Next we'll need 100 Fairy's Breath.

You can get this from any method of gathering, personally i just put the Stella's Spirit Stone and a Verdure Draught for some quick boosts along with my life skill gear and chose to do Lumbering.

There's a forest nearby that you can just decimate and with quick gathering speed it can be fun to just go from one tree to the next. Try to get some Mastery gear on because you'll get some drops while you do it.

After you've collected 100, all you need to do is head back to your instructor and finish the course by typing "Olvium Frontia!" in the General Chat window and you're all finished!
